Chalky is a professional freelance photographer based in London. He arrived in London in the early 1970's to attend Art School in Shepherds Bush and after a year's study he was offered a position as photographic assistant to Lord Lichfield. He worked at Lichfield's Studio until the late 1980's assisting Patrick through the busiest years of his career. They worked together on numerous projects including travel photography for Cathay Pacific Airlines and Dunlop Tyres, glamour calendars for Unipart and White Horse whisky as well as numerous beauty, portrait and fashion shoots (notably for Burberry).



Photographs taken by Chalky appeared in books that were published about the story behind the making of the Unipart Calendars. He became expert in Black & White processing and printing, and produced the prints for Patrick's exhibitions and book projects (“The Most Beautiful Women”, The Royal Album and Lichfield in Retrospect). During the late 1980's Chalky started to get his own freelance photographic commissions from clients such as Rayne Shoes and Glaxo, Smith Klein and in 1990 he left Lichfield's Studio to set up on his own as a London based freelance photographer.



In the last 20 years Chalky has established himself as a leading photographer of hotel interiors and exteriors in the UK. In addition to providing first class hotel photography he also takes commissions for restaurants, which includes food photography. His first major assignments were for The Conrad International in Chelsea Harbour (now the Wyndham Grand). Further hotel photographic assignments followed for Choice Hotels Europe and The Splendid Hotel Group.



His clients now include The Landmark London, The Royal Garden Hotel, BDL Hotels, Somerston Hotels, Kew Green Hotels, IHG brands (Holiday Inns, Express by Holiday Inns and Crown Plazas), Ramada Hotels and Ramada Encore Hotels. Chalky, with his experience and talent for reportage photography, also takes commissions for Corporate Events, which can include producing digital albums. His clients have included Pepsi Cola and Bloomberg.
